4 out of 5 stars Even relatively old, it is worth the price   July 27, 2010
Lomax
I bought my Dell Axim X5 a couple of months ago, refurbished in very good condition and only for around 40 dollars and I am extremely satisfied with the item. I bought, also refurbished, a wireless card, so that for around sixty something I have an equipment that do serve my purposes: organizing myself, set my reminders, checking mails and navigating internet and even writing or recording notes when I am in a hurry, not to forget. Upgrading could be a decision for the future, but thinking in a practical way, this was a very cheap solution.
As my system is Windows 7, I may communicate with the PC through the Windows Mobile Center, but I cannot interact with Outlook. I solved that problem, although it is not the optimal but works, printing to an Excel file all my contacts and transferring it to the PPC. With Edit...Find...I look for my contacts easily. What I could not solve is to use the player for seeing videos, only for audio (which is very good). If somebody has an idea how to do it, I would be grateful.
Forgot to mention: the screen is very good, you may read easily emails and news, also the photos. And when receiving photos attached to an email, you may save or see it. That is really something for such a cheap and relatively old device.

5 out of 5 stars its all that i need   July 13, 2010

I got my Dell Axim X5 WM 2002 few weeks ago and all i can say is: this is all i needed. I work in and out of office, and its really important for me to edit documents everywhere and print them. I wont spend my money in a expensive blackberry, i preffer use the mobile just for talk and send messages and use this wonderful thing for the real job. there was something that surprised me a lot, i could install it in my laptop with Windows Vista and worked perfectly.
I love it!

5 out of 5 stars Very Durable   January 5, 2010

Dell Axim X5 48MB/64MB 400Mhz

I bought one of these X5's at a great deal of $30 from here a long time ago, I also got the keyboard for it, I only needed it to last until I go out of collage as it was just for note taking only. The poor little thing has been through alot since it can to my hands, it's been dropped countless times, even a couple times from on top of a 12 foot step ladder onto the concrete shop floor, just about every time I dropped it both the stylus and the battery go flying away from the main unit, and every time it still works.

The standard battery did not last long so I bought a 3400Mah battery from Deckcell here on amazon, and it I will got about 2 to 3 weeks of using it everyday to take notes in class before the battery even gets to 50%, I once went 6 weeks before it gave me a warning that I had 20% battery left.

I plain on buyng another one of these in the next couple of days, just to have as a spare because it is that good.

I bought the dell axim x5 a month ago, I like dell products, and own a laptop from them, so it was natural for me to buy the axim. The axim is a god product the x5 is an older model but it more than meets my needs, has all the basics; word, excel, mc library, outlook calender and email, internet explorer, windows media player. plus microsoft has all kinds of apps for the axim, you can add pictures and songs. the x5 has a great price as well. I reccomend adding a sd card for extra storage. The only problem i had was really my fault i bought a 4 gig sd card that would not work with the x5, later i found out that the x5 will not read sd cards over 2 gigs, so i bought a 2 gig card for [...] bucks, but that is more than enough space for most users
